                                  Condensed Sample of Teacher’s Notes                                         

SCENE 13 –  Our story today is from the Gospel of John. John is called “the disciple that Jesus loved”. Everybody say “Hi” to John.

SCENE 14 –Have you ever had a question in your mind that was just too hard for you to answer? In today’s story, we will read about a man who has this problem. He has a question that he just cannot answer. He does the right thing about it. He goes to ask Jesus his question.  This is Nicodemus. He is a very important teacher in Israel . He is a special kind of teacher called a ‘Pharisee’.  

See the papers in Nicodemus’ hands. Those are L-O-N-G rolled up pieces of paper. They have God’s word written on them. Nicodemus has studied God’s word for many many years. He knows more about God’s word than almost anyone else in Israel . But he still wants to talk to Jesus. No matter how smart we are (or how smart we think we are), we still need to talk to Jesus.  

SCENE 15 -Nicodemus comes to visit Jesus during the night. See the beautiful moon and stars!  Look how happy Jesus is to see Nicodemus. Jesus is so happy to see us when we come to visit Him. He is happy to see us in the morning or in the afternoon or in the evening. Every time of the day is the right time of the day to visit Jesus. He is always happy to see us. 

 SCENE 16 – Jesus knows that something is bothering Nicodemus. Jesus is God and He always knows what we are thinking. Nicodemus wants to ask Jesus how to get into Heaven. Jesus says, “To get into Heaven, you must be born again.”

SCENE 17 –  Nicodemus scratches his head. He closes his eyes. And thinks about what he looked like when he was a baby. Nicodemus asked Jesus. “How is it possible to be born again as a little baby, if I am already an old man?”   

SCENE 18 – Jesus tells Nicodemus, “I am not talking about being born again on the outside and getting a new body. I am talking about being born again on the inside and getting a new heart. I am not talking about new arms and legs and fingers and toes.  I am talking about getting a brand new clean heart that wants to follow God’s laws.”  

SCENE 19 – Jesus says to Nicodemus, “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”  Jesus is God’s special love gift to you and to me. If we want Jesus to come into our lives, we must ask Him WITH ALL OUR HEARTS. We must invite Him to be with us here at Children’s Church WITH ALL OUR HEARTS. We must worship Him during our songs WITH ALL OUR HEARTS. We must ask Him to forgive us WITH ALL OUR HEARTS.   And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with your whole heart. Jeremiah 29:13

 SCENE 20– Jesus is God’s One and Only Son who came to earth to take the punishment for all the bad things you’ve ever done. Jesus paid a very high price for you to get into heaven when He suffered on the cross.  God the Father punished Jesus instead of punishing you.
